Sherry Parker knows quality healthcare and happy to have found it at The Springs at Monarch Landing in Naperville.
Sherry Parker knows quality healthcare. As a registered nurse in a major Chicago-area hospital, she gives a good dose of it every day. When she entered The Springs at Monarch Landing in Naperville for post-acute rehabilitation following hip replacement surgery, she knew what to look for. Over the 12 days she was at The Springs, she got everything she hoped for, and more.
“I had physical therapy every day and occupational therapy five times a week, with a schedule I was able to tailor for myself. I loved my therapists, the aides were awesome, and I had my own private bedroom and bathroom. That was most important to me,” she said.
Parker also liked the food and beautiful surroundings, inside and out, of the two-year-old community connected to independent living Monarch Landing. Offering nursing care, enriched living, memory support assisted living, rehabilitation and respite, The Springs goes the extra mile, according to Parker. “They provided a lovely, spacious area for just my family to celebrate one of my children’s birthday while I was in rehab. It had a big TV and enough room for all of us to spread out. That was really nice.”
A cardiac telemetry nurse at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Parker became aware of The Springs while searching for a nursing job after she passed her board exams in early 2015. “I saw during my online research that The Springs had very high ratings across several areas,” she said.
“Before my surgery, I checked out The Springs in person and thought, ‘this is where I want to do rehab.’” Parker also noted that during her less-than two-week stay at The Springs, she felt stronger and more mobile each day. “I got the outcome I wanted and an experience that exceeded my expectations.”
Anticipating replacement surgery on her other hip in the future, the 52-year-old has no desire to recover at home and would like to return to The Springs.
“Being at The Springs was a luxury situation, and it was wonderful to have the treatment and amenities available there,” she added. “It’s not always easy to make sure that every person has what they need, but The Springs staff really took care of me. In addition to offering the therapy I needed, they were there to greet me with a smile and really seemed happy to see me every day.”
Parker was particularly grateful for The Springs’ new guest relations specialist, Vi Seng. “Vi’s was the first friendly face I saw; she made sure I was comfortable in my surroundings and helped to ease my transition back home.”
With her second hip replacement surgery not far off, Parker knows she’s headed for some tough times again. “But I know The Springs will be there for me, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else,” she said.
